Where is greg glassman

See director's response. Watch this robot take over a fry station. Matt Damon: Clean water access frees up time for school. Facebook changes its company name to Meta amid controversies.

Barbara Corcoran: The housing boom is not a bubble. The move, which comes just two weeks after resigning from his post as chief executive, marks a more complete departure for Glassman from CrossFit. Glassman founded the company two decades ago, and it has since grown into one of the world's most recognizable chain of gyms or "boxes" as they're called in the CrossFit community. Following the tweets, Reebok, the official outfitter of the fitness program, told Footwear News they would end their partnership.

I made a mistake by the words I chose yesterday. My heart is deeply saddened by the pain it has caused. It was a mistake, not racist but a mistake.

On 9 June, Buzzfeed reported that in a private, 75 minute Zoom call with gym owners and staff, hours before his tweets on 6 June, Glassman recounted unfounded conspiracy theories about the death of George Floyd, and the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.

Please accept our deepest apology … This team is anti-racist. A Midwestern boy at heart, he was raised in St.

Louis and studied journalism at the University of Missouri. How we reported the story on highway displacements. Real Estate. All Sections. About Us. I have lots of different feelings about all this. I think Glassman he's not Coach anymore for me was just being his usual iconoclastic, contrarian self with those comments, and that's fine, but I don't understand someone who has no compassion whatsoever for an innocent man murdered in broad daylight by cops.

It shows that a person can be very bright in some ways, and very clueless in other ways. Glassman's insights that created CF in the first place were brilliant--defining "fitness", creating a method based on the theory, integrating theory with practice, the open source model, inventing workouts that make every second count, pulling the best ideas from all kinds of different sports and areas of knowledge to create a vibrant, effective, science-based approach--all of that was brilliant.

And yet, the tweet and the stupid, insensitive comments to his staff show just how un-brilliant he is in regards to having compassion and understanding the CF community and the society we live in. I don't feel qualified to do a psychoanalysis on him like a lot of the other commenters are doing. All I can say is, his comments were horrible and did a lot of harm, him going out is a very good thing for CF, and I wish the best of luck to Dave Castro and the rest of the crew as they try to keep CF going.

Btw, George Floyd was a great athlete; it would be really nice if you could do a hero WOD in honor of him. Very eloquently said, this is exactly how I feel. I think we should have 'getting up from the ground' as a movement in the Floyd WOD, like burpees, devil's presses or manmakers. I'd say burpees to pullups.

And a 19 minutes total time cap. A hero WOD Read into the full character of the people we do those WOD"s for and tell me this fits the criteria, enough with this talk. I absolutely agree with you.

And there is a WOD in memory of him, which there should be since the community that was supposed to protect and fight for him ended up doing the exact opposite.

From my point, he is a Hero. Not all heroes have to be in war or dying to save our country. Why should George be held to that when the U. Ivonne, George was a lifetime criminal. Clearly you also do not understand the meaning of a hero. I'm just so shocked how far left people have gone to completely disregard factually information in the name of being a member of mob mentality in the name of political correctness.

Here are some facts for you sir, Floyd was in prison 4 separate times for cocaine charges, Floyd also went to prison when he was convicted for holding a gun to a pregnant women's stomach, threatening to shoot her unborn child, while he and his buddies robbed her residence.

The store owner called the police due to the fake bill and Floyd acting erratic. Floyd deserved his day in court like any criminal in the American justice system and there in lies the tragedy of this incident. Floyd has a documented life of crime and has current drug addiction. You call him a hero, I call him a criminal. I also don't bend over to mob mentality.

It doesn't matter what color Floyd's skin was he deserved to be arrested like any criminal and receive due process like any criminal. If Floyd was not a drug addict trying to use counterfeit money he would still be holding his daughter and loving on his wife and this tragic time in Americas history would have never happened. Glassman would still be leading crossfit, and we would all be complaining about Covid 19 lock down. Thank you Jonathon Johns for such a well written reply, even after several minutes of deep breathing exercises my little couple sentence response was all I could muster.

But I will say my guess is that if Michael Murphy were alive he would probably not partake in the WOD after looking up the information of the person it was named after.

And as I said before what happened to George Floyd is appalling and anyone involved should be tried for murder but using the word hero is totally out of line. Ya'll are damn fools. That guy wasn't a hero, unfortunately, he was a victim.

We honor hero's so we don't become victims. There's a difference. It's sad, real sad, to think about victims. But sadness isn't our leader, nor is sympathy. You let your life be lead by sadness and sympathy and see where it takes you.

I've had people in my life be victimized, I don't think they are hero's, I see it for what it's worth, that were vulnerable. That's why we train, so we don't become that.

Someone puts their your knee on my neck too long and I'll kill them. Not because I followed those who died from it, but because I learned from that and forged a different path of survival. We honor and follow hero's, we learn from victims. Any of us could be either one, and it's a hard pill to swallow, but that's why we train Heroes are not always so different from other people in most ways.

They're not made of gold and angel dust, like some of you seem to imagine. They're just people made of flesh and blood like the rest of us, who did something heroic. Most never wanted to be a hero in the first place. Maybe George Floyd isn't a hero.

Ok, so then he's a martyr. Let's have a WOD in honor of him to show that his wrongful death matters. To show we as a society won't stand for this anymore. I find some of your comments appalling. Blaming the victim for his own murder. Blaming "the left" for political correctness, when we all do it regardless of party affiliation.

It's politically incorrect among right-wingers to criticize cops! It's always been politically incorrect on this page to even hint at any inkling of criticism of CrossFit!

Don't forget, cops criticize cops, and crossfitters have made huge contributions to CrossFit by finding ways to make it better.

I think we can learn to find the good in criminals, and forgive, and give them a chance to be right again. I think we can understand police violence without making one party a demon and the other an angel. No doubt many factors came together to produce this awful result, the choking of a suspect to death with no apparent concern for his rights--the victim's drug use, his criminal history, his skin color, his physical size; the perpetrator's training, his skin color, police dept.

In the end, what happened was wrong. And, it would not have happened without that cop showing complete disregard for the man's life, and that has happened way too many times and we the people are sick of it.

I think Glassman could have done a much better job of modeling leadership in these times. I just don't think he's cut out for it, with his ego, vengeful attitude, right-wing views, and hatred of fads; despite all the great stuff he did, which included giving loads of money to charities. He was absolutely great in creating and growing CrossFit, for which I will always be grateful. But I still think his leaving is the best thing for CF right now. I think it is right and proper that Glassman stepped down.

This is a prime of example of the systemic racism that has no place in society. It is no doubt dividing opinions, racist Vs non-racist. Some individuals are saying they don't condone or support Glassman in any way; they are willing to still pay him money.

Those affiliates that dropped crossfit straight away can hold their heads high and know that they acted with integrity. Nobody should be holding their head high for doing whats right. Nobody deserves a cookie for that nor should it feed their ego or allow them to feel a greater sense of moral superiority. That inspires virtue signalling. This whole call out culture went off the rails and people are acting absolutley disgusting the last month.

It takes away from the real virtue out there and the good cause and change happening right now. Jonathan, so Glassman should just remove himself from society then? He spoke with his constitutional right of free speech. People can pay him for affiliation if they want to without condoning a single word he says. People can keep CrossFit as their common ground and agree to disagree on politics. I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Ethnic Studies. For you liberal identity politic fools, I'm Native American, and black, and fluent in my traditional language and culture and live on the rez.

I find it funny when lay folks talk about ethnicity and race politics based on social media. Coming from someone who studied it in depth for 4 years at the top of my class Your talking about a guy who died from 'systemic racism' and here Glassman has saved hundreds of thousands of lives lost due to 'system' public health misguidance - yet he's an evil bigot?

Ya'll are bigots against the obese, those with diabetes, those who die of heart attacks, who weren't given the 'privilege' to end up fit; with the arrogance to attack the guy who's helping them.

Recognize their mistakes its a first step and perfect way! And i accept the apologies and thanks for all your job. I am a 65 year old man and have been doing CrossFit for 5 years. It has become part if my life and I so appreciate you creating this amazing program that actually works.

I am fitter that I was in my 30's hope to continue as long as I can. I personally don't think you need to step down because of a bad post, but that's your decision. To me, an apology would be sufficient. The CrossFit environment draws all ages, colors together as a family inclusive and it's been a gift to me, and to society.

I want to keep competing until I die. I am a 73 year old doing Crossfit for 6 years. It has changed my life. Greg has brought more to spotlight the health issues we are facing today and you do not get that kind of influence by always being politically correct.

Keep pushing forward Gregg! Is this just a case of another rich white guy running his mouth and taking liberties with the freedom of speech he has been granted and adding to collective trauma that visible minorities face on a daily basis from bias and discrimination?

So Laura according to your philosophy it was white privilege that had me starting work at 13 years old 2 jobs no less then spending over 20 years in the auto repair trade in plus degree heat many months of the year making a living to buy a home. Then putting myself through college paying every penny myself again a second job so I could change professions without a ton of debt, not having a bunch of kids I could not afford to have, driving a 14 year-old car because it's what I can afford.

Well Laura if that's the case then I'm feeling far more exhausted than privileged, but nice try on your part, I will never feel bad for what I've accomplished and since this is America anyone could do the same. That certainly is an accomplishment and do not need to feel bad about it at all.

But, you do not have to worry about a cop choking you to death just because of the color of your skin. That systemic racism sets one back and makes it doubly hard for them to succeed like you. Actually Shawn I disagree with your statement about not being worried about cop choking me to death for one simple reason, it's called "compliance". I have had dealings with law enforcement in my 54 years and every time the first thing I did was shut my mouth and comply with what they asked for, not running my mouth or jumping out of my car.

I was respectful regardless of whether I was right or wrong and just chose to fight the infraction at a later date, which I have actually had to do with decent results. While I fully agree there are some bad cops my experience is that most are actually nice people doing a job that you could not pay me enough money to do due to some of the situations they deal with on a daily basis. Regardless of any of the above I have felt from the second I saw what happened to George Floyd that the person s responsible should be tried in a court of law for murder.

Again; compliance works for you. See Rayshad Brooks, he was extremely compliant and somehow ended up dead. He tried to resist arrest because for him, he knows that if he gets taken in by the cops his life is over as they will find something to charge him with so it made for sense for him to run at that point and the only reason for that is systemic racism. As much as you think the playing field is level it's not and 'following the rules' doesnt end up with the same result for everyone.

Shawn I fully respect your opinion and I can't say you are wrong which I find to be sad in this day and age. I personally afford everyone the same level of respect regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.

As a school teacher in an inner city school 12th grade I'm proud that many of my former students from as far back as 11 years ago my first year keep in touch with me all the time.

And once again it's former students of all different backgrounds, to me once you're part of my class we're family and they all know it, maybe someday we'll all think that way. Otherwise, its all just show. Old rule: You do what you like with your money and others can do what they like with their money. The comments on here supporting racism and bigotry and giving Greg Glassman a pass reflect the reasons George Floyd was killed—so many white people look the other way.

Yes he did start a fitness movement but that does not mean he gets a pass. Those who defend him are part of the problem and blindly continue white privilege. Pay attention to the peaceful protests that are occurring nationally and internationally. A poor analogy. That would be like saying all blacks who did not march at Selma did not believe what they were marching for.

Some people can hold multiple opinions on an issue. Crossfit has done a lot for many. I discussed this in length with a group of dear African American friends last night, and oddly enough, they all forgive Greg Glassman. Given his position, we all agree that what he said was totally unacceptable, but oddly enough this group, although African American, forgive him and are moving on.

Hold a grudge and forever be a prisoner of yourself! That said, I sure hope that those who protest here are never in a predicament of saying something Ignorant out of a fit of rage or anger and then expecting forgiveness; for, what we give to the world we get back! Fighting hate with hate is not the answer. We need to be more kind to one another. Very sad world we live in Additionally, and not to mention any names, but one specific person seems to have a huge vendetta against CrossFit and Coach Glassman to have taken this so personally.

Not to mention comparing this situation to the likes of the one with Harvey Weinstein. What is white privilege? How would such privilege apply to George Floyds murder when 3 different race officers white, black, and asian physically held him during his final moments.

How does one obtain this privilege? Does it require DNA testing or is this just a catch all phrase for all that's unjust and unequal in the world?

I know these are tough questions but they are asked in a peaceful way. I really want to know. I have seen nothing but good come from Crossfit, its really sad to see something so good get tarnished. Isn't there more to consider over the coarse of time as we process everything? Human nature is to find immediate justice after such a heinous crime and I understand that but its our responsibility as good and just people to be patient enough to process things in a rational manner and then act appropriately instead of constantly looking for next way to satisfy anger through means of retribution.

I met Crossfit when I was 25 years old in and it has been a big part of my life ever since. I just hope that people who quit being a part of Crossfit would remember why we loved this sport and come back. Dont forget that we are a global community and your community only exist in your neighborhood.

Now to hold him accountable for his singular actions I want to thank you Greg for being the greatest influence in my life. Your teachings put me on course for my life's calling. And have shown me what true excellence is.

You have done tremendous good for the world. And I hope that you continue your fight. Not for an instant have I thought you were racist and I cannot express in words my deep remorse that we are where we are.

Thank you Coach Greg!! Your dedication to creating change in people's health and wellness will not be forgotten. Crossfit has changed my life and I'm proud to be part of it and always will be!

To those of you who want to crucify this man, I welcome your departure from Crossfit, in fact I will even hold the door open for you. Dave Castro welcome to your new position, I know you will serve us well.

Greg's interest and best contribution nowadays is the CrossFit Health angle; I hope his retirement will not preclude him from continuing this important work perhaps after stepping away for a break and resuming in this reduced role. I also hope Castro can bring back Nicole. I would like to see an initiative to encourage more urban youth programs like Steve's Club. I heard there was a free middle school program that was not renewed?

Hope this helps. I am eternally grateful and I will never forget. I am going to keep doing my part to pull people onto the island. We are all human, and capable of hurting others, and we are just as capable of asking forgiveness when we do. It's the product of having to draw lines before rational thoughtful consideration takes place in order to please the fans. What we all wouldn't give for a "timeout" button.

I do not for a moment believe you are racist. I do not believe your tireless work for the benefit of the black community was done in jest.

I do not believe you fight big soda, big pharma and deep pocket science to the benefit of one race or culture. You are a rarely intelligent human that required more from us all and in such you have dedicated your life to the pursuit of excellence, equally, for everyone. Personally taking on the battle of a world health crisis — before the added complication of a global pandemic had to be utterly exhausting, physically, mentally and emotionally draining.

The short of it is, most times we as the public forget that our public figures are humans too. You have the benefit of the doubt where I am concerned and I publicly stand by that in your defense.

Thank you for your contribution to the health and welfare of a world. Had you done nothing else, the methodology you created revolutionized training forever. Your commitment to the betterment of healthcare, scientific reasoning, and the human condition has been nothing short of extraordinary. You changed my life, and in doing so allowed me to positively impact many more lives as a result of my coaching, and as a result of the revenue I've been able to convert to philanthropic work to better my community.

I am so very grateful. Nothing has changed at CrossFit Pottstown Everybody has a bad day, this planet existed long befoe those affilliate and wil be here long after, get over your selves - HQ drive on! He is allowed to retire without ever apologizing. The CrossFit world is disappointed and hurt cause by this man. And for everyone praising these men is a shame. Bottom line true colors was and is shown, and the support was not given to a community that has only demanded to be treated like humans.

I pray that God opens your eyes to see the truth and hear the voices of the voiceless. Greg Glassman joined a Zoom call with 30 box owners from the black community to apologize prior to posting the retirement statement. When are they gonna cancel Trudeau, Northman in Virginia our blackface friends? They exempt? This woke cancel culture is choosy and nuts and funny so many here support it.. When is he getting cancelled?

Surprised how many clowns there are in the community that value hard work not impulsive idiocy. CrossFit has given my life direction. It has given me a way to help. I can't ask for more than that. Your extraordinary insight and vision regarding health and fitness which led to the creation of CrossFit is a substantial and timeless work.

Three years ago I joined the affiliate, CrossFit Hilton Head and went from being sick to fit in about three months by living the methodology of what you created. As a practicing physician in primary care for 28 years, the work at CrossFit Health and those involved have not only brought life and joy back to my practice of medicine, but have reignited my vision and hope in the validity of the true scientific method of Bacon, and the practice of medicine that focuses on fitness and health, not pharmaceuticals to prevent and reverse chronic disease.

In well over , hours of practice and study in the field of medicine, I have not encountered a more succinct, substantial, applicable and true body of information as that found in CrossFit Health to help my patients and me live healthier lives and avoid chronic disease. Thank you for your labor of love in the field of fitness and health. Like many, I have been and remain a huge admirer of Coach Glassman. His intellect, rigor, passion, and uncompromised focus and drive revolutionized fitness.

He took on big soda and largely won. He is improving health care. He never tolerated muddle-headed, sloppy, lazy thinking. So like many, yes I was disappointed. His tone-deafness, while not intended, crossed a line. I am sad to see him leave the CEO role. I hope he continues to guide the organization in a different type of role, and in a way that allows the community to heal.

This episode raises the issue of corporate governance and how well prepared is CF. As a long-time corporate executive, I have seen first-hand how important it is to have a deep management team. Does CF? Is Dave C up to the task? I think he is, but my concern is not about him, rather, who's next? What is the team under him? If the proverbial beer truck strikes Dave, what would happen?

CF is far more now than a loose collection of fitness enthusiasts. It needs to be managed like any other large, complex organization. You have made a remarkable contribution to society with your inclusive programme.

CrossFit has been tremendously beneficial to millions of people around the world. It will continue to be, even if it is called something else. You have challenged commonly accepted erroneous views and methods and brought clarity and effective results. CrossFit uses science and measurable data and the recommendations for quarantine were based on theoretical models not robust data. You have apologised for your mistake and I accept your apology. The company I work at not CrossFit related was founded about 40 years ago.

It is a company that is controversial. I remember my first ever wod from main site. Whitten, I just thought WTF just happened? That was 10 yrs ago. GG, you did an amazing job getting fitness out there and making it inspirational and enjoyable. You fucked up. Bring a public figure in the age of social media means that fucking up basically means you're done.

Enjoy the quiet life. Try not to say anything stupid in the future, read through your posts and take a deep breath before tapping the send button next time. Dear Greg, for all that you have done over many years - building CrossFit and fighting for better health and fitness for all people - I am incredibly grateful. I thank you for your service. I hope you enjoy your retirement. I will always be grateful and appreciative of the great work that Greg Glassman has done and the opportunities it has created for me on a personal level.

The virtue of this man for me will be considered with an appropriate response to his actions which is equal and proportionate to his impact. Of which decades of hard work to a noble cause is worth more than a couple of foolish remarks. Thank you for the positive impact you have made.
