The "New" ownership is a commercial rip-off. I have been going to this pick-your-own farm location for over 20 years. I probably know more about the property than the present owners. Back when it was just Tierra Rejada Farms, this was a nice and reasonable place to relax and choose your own fruits and vegetables from the large farm fields. It was pick-your-own then, too, and it had the same produce like the strawberries and tomatoes available.

Just below the outdoor sinks where you can wash up, there used to be a nice pickable herb garden with mint, oregano, dill, thyme, rosemary and sage. It's been long ripped out by the current owners. Among the many other unsavory additions and subtractions on this farm by the Underwoods is the live animal area. Previously, you could choose to see the animals-or not- and pay a separate fee to go to that area where they roamed. No more. Now that my kids are teenagers, it's 'been there, done that'-we never really were very interested in animals way back when.

And now, we just want to grab a wagon and go pick, yet the present excessive entrance fee still forces you to pay for something you don't want or need. Previously, as Tierra Rejada Farms, there was no entrance fee, and I exchanged a few emails about this with Susan Underwood, who had a very poor attitude, despite me being a very long-time and pre-Underwood patron of the farm.

She had a lot of hot air about insurance and farm upkeep, etc. Yes, there is a 3 then free policy and also a season pass. But back to the idea and her excuses for the entrance fees-What Susan Underwood fails to understand is that if you walk into any supermarket that sells the same kinds of produce that Underwood Farms offers, you aren't hit with an entrance fee just to wlak through their doors, are you?

And don't markets have the same overhead and "great costs" like insurance, permits and fees, staffing and layout"?? As for the produce quality of UF, it is generally pretty good. The huge popularity of the pick-your-own strawberries and variety of tomatoes is still here. The strawberries over the recent years have been inconsistent, regarding sweetness, though. As for prices, it is understandably a bit high. Yet, the Underwoods here believe that you should pay them JUST to walk onto the property and then charge you even more money for the produce that you pick!

Pre-Underwood, I and my family had many, many safe and enjoyable experiences here without having to pay an entrance fee. It is shameful that Susan Underwood has no respect or recognition for the folks like myself and my family who just want to go and pick and then leave, like the old days, and not be double charged for the frills and bells and whistles.

Now, sadly, even for the many who are not interested in attractions and the live animals, it's more of a commercial attraction that happens to include pick-your-own. I used to go here at least 6 or 7 times a year before the entrance fees began. But now, as I am sure is the case with other folks, I only go maybe once or twice to this because I refuse to be over-charged to just pick my own produce.

Read more. It's a terrific spot with kids of all ages but especially younger ones as there's rides and animals and activities. I'm writing this review to let people know that it's not JUST for kids. Check their website or call to find out what's in season and available for picking, then head out with friends or solo.

It's really relaxing to be out in the fields, selecting and picking fruits and vegetables. It reminds you that our food comes from the ground and doesn't just show up in the supermarket - it takes nature and care.

The meals we have made with the farm-picked produce taste so much better - you can taste the difference. Note: suggest bringing garden gloves, shears for cutting , sunscreen and water.

It gives them some understanding of how they are grown, the effort it takes to grow them and then to harvest. It gives them an opportunity to get out into a healthy environment during this pandemic.

The best part is eating what you know is fresh. Food picked with your own hands. We picked strawberries, raspberries, squash, all kinds of tomatoes, eggplants, several types of lettuce, cabbage and more. Parking is free. We had a 4 month old infant with us and it was a nice stroll. Check out their website for the different veggies that they have growing so that you know what go expect.

We went during the strawberry season and so we got ourselves 2 carton. The price is super reasonable. Picking your own vegetables is a great way to spend with children. Well they have everything. Petting zoo. All this plus super local veggies. Great place to take the kids during the holidays but they charge a fee.
